Conference Quotes

Every October and April, my church has a church-wide general conference. My family and I spent last weekend hanging out on the couch, eating snacks, and watching conference on TV.  I love this chance we get twice a year to spend this family time together, being inspired and taught.  And, I love turning some of my favorite quotes from it into pretty printables after conference is over.  :)

Mother's Day Quote

I think I may be addicted to pretty quote printables. I pin and pin them. I'm a visual person and I love seeing inspirational words displayed in such a pretty way.

I have fun making my own, too.  I love the cheery yellow of this one (it's my favorite color).  The adorable yellow flower "paper" comes from Citrus and Mint.  Love her designs.

As I was designing this, I asked my 5 year old if he liked it and if he thought it was pretty.  His response, "Well, yeeaaaah...if I could figure out what it is!"  Ha!  I just love that boy and I love being a mother.  I hope you all have a great Mothers Day!

We Matter

In case you haven't noticed, I'm a Mormon.  And this weekend, my church is holding our twice-a-year General Conference.  It's 4 general 2 hour sessions of talks from our leaders and our prophet.  I LOVE listening to the inspired words and feeling the holy Spirit.  If you'd like to watch it with me, you can watch or listen to it here.

My favorite quote so far comes from Sister Elaine S. Dalton, "Our part matters because WE matter."  So, of course I had to make a printable to pin to Pinterest.  :)  So, here it is:

Mothers

It has been a busy, busy month.  Between doctors appointments, commissioned sewing projects (I'm making all the bridesmaid outfits for a wedding!), summer scouting activities (I'm a den leader), vacation, and the chaos that comes with having the kids home for the summer, it seems as though there is no time left over for anything else.  

Plus, with any extra time I find, I've been trying to spend with my kids.  I even made myself a printable, to remind me of the things I want to be sure and do with my three boys.  It comes from a talk by Ezra Taft Benson called, To the Mothers in Zion.  (He gave a similar talk to fathers, as well.) In his talk, he lists ten ways that mothers can spend effective time with their children.  

I thought it was a good reminder of what I want to do, so I put together the list (with cute fonts!) and printed it out and placed it on a bookshelf in my bedroom, where I see it often.  I thought some of you might enjoy this printable as well, so I'm posting it here for you.  Feel free to download (right click and save, as always) or pin to Pinterest.  Enjoy!

 

Uchtdorf Quote Printable

My favorite thing about Pinterest is pinning beautiful words, quotes that are beautiful both because of their presentation and the beauty of the words themselves.

I attended my church's general meeting for women last night.  When I heard a wonderful talk by a leader in my church, President Uchtdorf, I knew that I wanted to turn at least one of his quotes into a beautiful printable, if only so I could pin it on Pinterest.  :)

Mother's Day Printable

I love the children's song, "I Often Go Walking." It's probably my favorite Mother's Day song. So, in honor of that song, and our mothers, I'm offering this free printable for Mother's Day.  Display it in your home, frame it and give it to your mom (it's a 5x7), or turn it into a card.  Enjoy!

I Heart Naptime

Have I done any good in the world today?

My church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, held a general conference today, where we listened to counsel and encouragement from our modern-day prophet and the general authorities of the Church.  Among the talks that were given, was one by President Henry B. Eyring about service.

His talk quoted the hymn, Have I Done Any Good.  As soon as that hymn was mentioned, I remembered a desire I'd had to frame a part of that song and display it in my home as a reminder to do good continually. 

So, I spent the rest of the morning session, while listening to conference on TV, putting together a printable.  Feel free to download and use it yourself! 

I put this one together first.  I like that it has more of the hymn's lyrics on it, but I find myself more drawn to the second one I made. 

This one is simpler and I like the look of it better.  I think I'll use both.  One for my frame and one to put on the fridge.  

I bought an inexpensive ($3) Walmart frame and spray-painted it yellow.  I love it.  It'll look so cute in my room.  Here's what each printable looks like in the frame.  (And, don't you love the ranunculus?  I picked that up today at Walmart, too.  I love spring!)
